George M. Benson, Sr.
George M. Benson, Sr., is an award-winning artist who exhibits in galleries throughout Michigan and Ohio. He is also a 15 year employee of MTS, working in the shipping and receiving departments.
George has been painting for 20 years, using oil, watercolor and acrylic primarily on canvas. Over the past decade, he has shifted his focus among abstract, expressionism and minimalistic landscapes.
He is also a six year cancer survivor. “I try to share my passion for the outdoors through my landscapes,” George said. “Being a cancer survivor has opened my eyes to a colorful new world. It has really pushed my use of color — especially in my expressionism work — to a new level, with a bolder and brighter palette.”
The 2013 Prizm Art-A-Fair Georgia O’Keeffe Award recipient, George is a resident of Temperance, Michigan. He and his wife Brenda have three children. See some of George’s work on his Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Art-of-George-Benson-Sr/511429778975691
