Interior Design Magazine has called Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) “the world’s #1 hospitality design firm.” HBA has created signature looks for some of today’s leading luxury brands. With more than 1,600 designers worldwide and an extensive knowledge of interior design, HBA sets the bar for the hospitality industry.
So when HBA responded to The Art of MTS by holding an internal design competition to reinvent the banquet stack chair, MTS couldn’t wait to see the results. HBA presented seven concepts to MTS. “We were impressed by all the work,” said Josh Swy, MTS’ Director of Design. “But The Barely There Chair stood out for us. It was one of those ideas where you see it and think, ‘I wish I came up with that.’”
The HBA team took its inspiration for The Barely There Chair from luxury items like diamonds and crystal vases. “What we wanted to do was play with light and get some glimmer,” said Interior Designer Stacey Sefcik. “Our goal was not just to create a new stack chair but something that would be exciting for designers, beautiful in the space and really take the design to the next level.”
